Scouts 2017-18

We will be starting this years Scouts with a Camp!!!
After the Group Family Quiz Night on Friday the 8th of September we will be camping and training in the skills required for CPCW (the County Patrol Camping Weekend camp) including putting up tents and dining shelters, cooking on open fires, using an axe and pioneering.  Finishing on Sunday after lunch.
Details on price and the required permission form will be out soon.

CPCW will take place on Fri-Sun 6-8th October @ Horley

The World Jamboree Selection Camp @ Youlbury (Oxford) will take place on the 13th to 15th of October.  If you were born between 22nd July 2001 & 21st July 2005, you are eligible to apply for this once in a lifetime event.

On the 24th of October the District's Midnight Challenge even will take place.

The national Wintercamp 2018 will take place @ Gilwell Park on the 12-14th Jan 2018 Cost including camping & food will be £85 per Scout.  Transport there and back in normally arranged between the parents.  Booking must be completed by the 3rd week in September.  (This camp depends on leader & helper availability and number of Scouts wishing to attend).

District Winter Scout Camp @ Horley (January 26th -28th 2018).  Activities run by the District team.
(This camp depends on leader & helper availability and number of Scouts wishing to attend).

District Group Camp will be on the 18-20th May 2018 @ Horley (all the group will be able to attend)

County Aquacamp 2018 15th-17th June.  Canoes, Kayaks, rowing, sailing, dragon boats, raft building, water games & camping.  What more do you need!!!.

Thursday 2nd June: NO SCOUTS - Half Term

Thursday 8th June: Horley Scout Camp at 7pm for a Wide Game 
Thursday 15th June: Personal Challenge (Pioneering) pt 1a @ Bloxham Primary 7:30
Thursday 22nd June: Personal Challenge pt 1b @ Horley 7:00
Thursday 29th June: Personal Challenge (Camp Fire) pt 2a & Start of Digital Badge @ Bloxham Primary 7:30
Thursday 6th July: Personal Challenge pt 2b @ Horley 7:00 - (Remember you need to come up with a campfire song or skit for tonight - this is for your personal challenge so it must me good)
Thursday 13th July: End of Term Water Fight @ Horley

Summer Term Part 1
Wednesday 26th April: PL's & Leaders program planning meeting.
Thursday 27th April: Please bring your folders with you.  This is your chance to catch up with your badges and see what you still have left to do.  We will also be going over the last bit of the Stage 3 First Aid Badge plus Games & Skills (Please bring you knotting ropes with you).

Sunday 30th April: St Georges Day Parade in Banbury - meet @ 9:30 in Banbury.

Thursday May the 4th (Star Wars Day): May the force be with you.

Saturday-Sunday 6-7th May: Expedition Award (Only for those involved).

Thursday 11th May: Golf, Subs & Awards.  We are meeting at Hillside Farm Golf Driving Range,  Banbury Road, Bloxham to start at 7pm (please be there at 6:45).  The activity will cost £3 per Scout (please bring cash) and equipment will be provided but if you have your own sticks you can bring them.  Subs for the final term are due, please try to have them for tonight, make cheques payable to 1st Bloxham Scout Troop.  Those Scouts who have earned challenge badges or Their Chief Scout Gold Award will be presented with them tonight.  We will Finish the evening back at the Primary School @ 8:30

Saturday 13th May: County Awards Day (@ Youlbury) : for those involved i.e. all those who received their Silver Award last year in Cubs & those who have earned their Gold Award this year.

Thursday 18th May: SUBS need to be paid by today please. Backwoods cooking at Horley Camp site, please try to be there before 7:30 as cooking takes a long time. 

Thursday 25th May: SCOUTS Cancelled (updated on 23/5/2017 @ 10:54am)
The leaders will be putting up tents @ Blenheim Palace for Oxonjam County Camp.  Sorry, County have told us children are not allowed on site yet for H&S reasons.

Fri 27th- Mon 29th May: OXONJAM County Camp @ Blenheim Palace (For those involved - various camping & day visitors)

If you are wanting to come to the County Camp (Details below) either as a day visitor or the 2 day visit with camping on Saturday night then you need to fill in the form and bring the form & money this week to Horley.

Please Remember the 7pm start at Horley - if you are late we will be at the camp fire circle.

For the backwoods cooking you will need a long "green" stick to bake dampers on.
Make sure it is not a poisonous stick such as Holly, Yew or Laburnum.

No need for uniform, you will get smoky.

County Camp - Oxon Jam - LAST WEEK TO BOOK

We are now able to offer two options for Scouts wanting to visit OXONJAM the County Camp.
1) As a day visitor - on either Saturday or Sunday (provide own packed lunch)
2) 2 day visit (Saturday & Sunday) with camping on Saturday night. This is due to leader availability.
Please fill out and get the attached for back to us by the 31st March (preferably early as possible).

16th March: Teamwork Challenge, Choose Sponsored Event for Red Nose Day, First Aid Test
23rd March: Red Nose Day Challenge: Meet at the School at normal time - Dress in you most FUNKY disco clothes for the rave on top of HOB HILL.


30th March: Outdoor Challenge - Cook a Backwoods Meal @ Horley 7pm
31st March - Si5 SpyMissions Group Event @ Milton Keynes (see section below)
1st April - 2nd April: County selection Camp for Norway Expedition
